Reflection
For Measurement [QSB1114], there are four learning outcomes.
Towards the end of this module, I am able to interpret the clauses in the
Standard Method of Measurement (SMM) and adopt a systematic approach to take
off quantities from drawing for the various trades in relation to sub structure
and reinforced concrete frame works. Then, I will be able to distinguish and
illustrate differences in writing up the descriptions in accordance to design
changes for substructure and reinforced concrete frame works. Besides that, I
will know how to evaluate the relationship between specifications, Drawings and
Bill of Quantities in Tender documents for sub-structure and reinforced
concrete frame works. Lastly I am also able to competently carry out the
preparation of the Bills of Quantities.
In order to achieve these learning outcomes, we need to
attend all the lecture and tutorial class. We also need to pay attention in
class. Besides that, we also need to take part the activities that had been organized
by our lecturer. For example: site visit, tutorial work and assignment.
For the site visit, it was held on 21 June 2013, Friday. We were divided into two group for this site visit. One group started at 8.45am and the other group started at 9.45am. Each group was given an hour for the site visit. Our measurement lecturer, Sr Ang was the one who went to the site visit with us under the hot sun. The site is used to build a TNB Sub Station and the building named PMU TNB Station. The site is located at Subang Jaya Town Centre.
In this site visit, I am able to expose to actual working environment and have a better understanding in construction process as we can see that on site. I also receive the information about the safety precaution when we are on the site. Besides that, I am ale to identify various types of building materials and technology. We also able to communicate with the construction team members on site and to see the importance of teamwork in building team.

This is the time that I had spent with my coursemate to do
my group assignment together. Although it is a stressful assignment, I did
enjoy the time with them while doing the assignment. :D
